If you are looking for rude tellers, high fees, voice mail hell, and the inability to get even a simple deposit correct then I can highly recommend Bank of America. They are one of the companies I had in mind when I wrote The Death of the Loyal Customer.However if you are looking for personal service, low fees, and an actual person to talk to then try the following banks. In Easley the number one choice is Cornerstone National Bank. They are one of the last remanents of the old hometown banks where every teller knows your name, your children's names, and even the name of your dog. Dusty enjoys riding with me because theyalways have a treat for her. On the downside is that they are currently only located in Easley. My other recommendations are Carolina First and First Citizens.We have had an excellent relationship with both institutions andthey have numerous branches throughout Upstate South Carolina. I-85 is the main North South route from Charlotte to Atlanta and I-26 is the East West route from Asheville to the port of Charleston. If you are in a leisurely mood I suggest the drive along scenic Highway 11 from Gaffney to the Georgia line. Be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center near Table Rock. Both interstates offer easy and quick access to the major metropolitan areas of Greenville and Spartanburg. However be aware that South Carolina issues more speeding tickets than any other state in the nation. Don't ruin your visit with a trip to the magistrate's office.
The Greenville Spartanburg International airport has undergone major expansions in recent years and can accommodate the largest cargo and passenger planes.
